This is me at night - wired but so exhausted.
My mind races, I toss and turn and I cannot seem to stop it! I’m thinking of every little detail and everything that may possibly go wrong in my life!! With the help from ashwagandha root (coupled with my attempts at meditation, journaling, and yoga), I have been able to calm my mind and help replenish my adrenals!
Ashwagandha is an adaptogenic herb that is very effective at balancing out hormones. Due to its adaptogenic properties (simply put - it normalizes the body, whether it is overactive or under-active physiological functions) This herb benefits both the function of the thyroid as well as our adrenals!! There are many other amazing benefits such as eliminating anxiety, depression, irregular mood shifts, swelling, and inflammation, lowering blood sugar, decreasing body pain and it has a brain-calming effect among many other benefits.
Ashwagandha neutralizes free radicals that are caused by us overtaxing our body from too much physical, emotional, mental or physiological stress which inadvertently disrupts our hormone production as well as their communication between each other. When our hormones become imbalanced (hormones such as cortisol, adrenaline and even our sex hormones), we begin to experience the feelings of sluggishness, low motivation, frequent mood swings, low libido, depression, anxiety, weight gain or loss, feeling “dull” or just not feeling yourself.
My suggestion: Use ashwagandha root in the morning to see the best results with energy production throughout the day as well as regulated sleep patterns at night! BUT remember, this is a journey with your body and these herbs work synergistically with you so it may take a few days to see some results, especially if your adrenals and/or thyroid are overworked.
